The objective of the Emergency Action Plan is to comply with OSHA standard 29 CFR 1910.38 and to prepare employees for dealing with an emergency. This plan is designed to minimize injury, loss of human life and company resources by training employees, procuring and maintaining necessary equipment, and assigning responsibilities. This plan applies to all emergencies that may reasonably be expected to occur in the workplace.
This course is broken down into three parts
You must score at least 60% to pass this course.
Increase knowledge of evacuation routes, procedures, and floor plans
Reduce the number and severity of accidents, injuries, and illnesses due to an emergency
Increase understanding on how to report and alert the proper authorities
The Emergency Action Plan Coordinators are responsible for instituting the procedures needed to take in case of an emergency. (Note: In an event that a manager is mot present, the coordinator must be responsible in accounting for all employees/visitors in an evacuation.)
The Coordinators of Central Pro Services will provide adequate controls and equipment that, when used properly, will minimize or eliminate risk or injury to employees in the event of an emergency. (Such as a Fire Extinguisher)
Central Pro Services Safety Advisor will review this plan on an annual basis along with its coordinators.
If there is a fire or an emergency were to occur, immediately respond by contacting your first responders:
Employees are encouraged to remain patient and use common sense during an emergency. If it permits, all fires and emergency situations should be reported as soon possible to one of the following managers:
Employees are not authorized to use a portable fire extinguisher to fight a fire in the building. Under no circumstances shall an employee attempt to fight a fire with a fire extinguisher, nor shall any employee attempt to enter a burning building to conduct a search and rescue. These actions shall be left to emergency service professionals who have necessary training, equipment, and experience. (Such as the fire department or any medical facility staff member). Untrained individuals may injure themselves and/or those trying to rescue.
Emergency exits are clearly marked throughout the building. In the event that a fire/emergency is sounded or instructions for evacuation have been given by one of the Coordinators, all employees shall immediately exit the building at the nearest marked exit, and shall meet as soon as possible in the safe area of the parking lot/street farthest away from the office building.
Once an evacuation has occurred, The Director of Operations shall account for each employee/visitor assigned to them in a designated meeting area (most likely a safe area of the parking lot/street.) Each employee is responsible for reporting to their supervisor so an accurate headcount can be made. All employees shall wait with their departments until further instruction is given. All employees count shall be then reported to the Emergency Action plan coordinators and managers ASAP.
Under no circumstances shall an employee provide advanced medical care and treatment. These situations shall be left to emergency service professionals who have the necessary training, equipment, and experience.
Central Pro Services main office is located within 5 miles of a hospital. Untrained individuals may endanger themselves and/or those they are trying to assist.
If an employee encounters a hostile intruder, he/she will follow the Department of Homeland Security recommendation of Run, Hide, and/or Fight.
Run
Hide
Fight
CENTRAL CODE: If someone says anything involving the name “Mr. Green” that is an indicator that an intruder is in the building.
