Driver Safety-Guideline Course

The primary objective of the Driver Safety Guideline Course is for the employee to understand that their driving habits have become an issue. However, there is still time to fix it!


This course is broken down into 3 parts. 

  1. Video training
  2. Reading
  3. Quiz


You must score at least 60% to pass this course.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE DRIVER SAFETY PROGRAM

 Every 12 minutes someone dies in a motor vehicle crash, every 10 seconds an injury occurs and every 5 seconds a crash occurs. Many of these incidents occur during the workday or during the commute to and from work. 

An infraction of just 2 points on your license can cause Insurance Rates to go up. 

From OSHA.gov, " Employees are an employer’s most valuable assets. Workplace driver safety not only make good business sense but also are a good employee relations tool, demonstrating that employers care about their employees. 

WHY AM I REQUIRED TO TAKE THIS COURSE?

   

You may be required to take this course because you have demonstrated that you can not abide by the rules of the road or have shown that you can not operate a vehicle in a safe enough manner.

Infractions

One (I) of the following occurrences during the previous three

year period:

  • Reckless or negligent driving
  • Driving while impaired or under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Homicide by vehicle, negligent homicide, or involuntary manslaughter
  • Fleeing or attempting to elude police officers
  • Driving without a license or while license is suspended or revoked
  • Hit and run or failure to stop after an accident
  • Evading responsibility after an accident
  • Major speeding (20 or more MPH over limit)

Two (2) or more of the following occurrences during the previous three-

year period:

  • Speeding (less than 20 MPH over limit)
  • Speed greater than reasonable or prudent or too fast for conditions
  • Failure to yield
  • Failure to obey traffic sign or signal
  • Improper backing, turning or passing
  • Following too closely
  • Careless operation of vehicle
  • Any other moving violation
  • "At-fault" accident

Three (3) of the following occurrences during the previous three year period:

  • Defective equipment
  • Oversize or overweight load
  • Operating without required equipment or warnings
  • Other equipment violations
  • Not "at-fault" accident
